3 Ways to Fly for Free

Here are 3 things you can do that will have you flying for free in no time.

Join Your Favorite Airlines Frequent Flyer Programs

Airlines are generally very good to their customers that fly a lot. They will reward this loyalty by offering free airfare. For every airline you fly with on a regular basis sign up for their frequent flier program. Most airlines have this type of program. After you have accumulated so many round trips or air miles you will be given vouchers for free flight or in the least upgrades.

Be sure to pay attention to the details, because many of these rewards have expiration and blackout dates.

Be the First to Volunteer if the Flight is Over Booked

Most people are aware that airlines over book all their flights. They do this to make sure every seat is filled as often as possible. Sometimes more people show up that they have seats for and that leaves the agents with a real problem.

When faced with this problem the agents will usually announce to the passengers the problem and ask if anyone wants to volunteer to take a later flight.

There will usually be a few people that come up to the desk and take them up on the offer. If you have already notified the agent in advance when you check in, you will be the first person considered.

As a reward for offering to fly at a later date, the airline will often give the volunteers vouchers for free flights in the future.

Keep in mind this works best if you have flexibility in your flying schedule and are traveling with only carry on luggage.

If You Have Real Problem Be Sure to Complain

The last thing the airlines want to have a customer leave them because of a problem and worse, spreading negative news about a problem that took place. They know that negative word of mouth advertising is very bad and can result in much lost business.

If you have had a legitimate problem with the airline do not just take it in stride. Document what took place in as much detail as you can. Send this in the form of a letter to the airline.

In this letter, be accurate with your details, be polite and ask for compensation in the form of reimbursement or voucher for future flight. Do not threaten, and be professional. Quite often the airline will send a disgruntled passenger free tickets to help smooth out the problem.

These are just 3 simple ways to get free airfare.
